Description
10X TBE Buffer is a concentrated Tris-borate-EDTA running buffer for agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of DNA and RNA.
Dilute the solution 1:10 with molecular biology-grade water to prepare 1X TBE. Its high buffering capacity provides sharp resolution of small DNA fragments and supports extended or high-voltage electrophoresis.

Compatibility: Suitable for agarose gels, non-denaturing RNA agarose gels and non-denaturing polyacrylamide gels. TBE is preferred where greater buffering capacity and sharper resolution of smaller nucleic acid fragments are required.
Preparation: To prepare 1 L of 1X TBE, combine 100 mL of 10X TBE with 900 mL of molecular biology-grade water. To prepare 500 mL, combine 50 mL of 10X TBE with 450 mL of water.

Note: A white precipitate may develop if the concentrated buffer is stored at a low temperature because of its high borate concentration. If this occurs, warm the solution to approximately 55–60°C and mix until the precipitate dissolves before dilution.
