01 Description, applications & specifications
Description
3 M Sodium Acetate Solution, pH 5.2–5.4 is a concentrated molecular biology reagent for DNA and RNA precipitation, purification and storage.
The sodium ions help neutralise the negative charge of nucleic acid phosphate backbones, enabling efficient precipitation with ethanol or isopropanol. The solution can also be used for preparing acetate-based buffers.
Key Features: 3 M sodium acetate • pH 5.2–5.4 • Ready-to-use stock solution • Supports DNA and RNA precipitation • Suitable for nucleic acid purification • Effective acetate buffering range of approximately pH 3.6–5.6 • Suitable for molecular biology applications
Applications: DNA Precipitation • RNA Precipitation • Nucleic Acid Purification • DNA and RNA Storage • Ethanol Precipitation • Isopropanol Precipitation • Acetate Buffer Preparation • Protein Crystallisation • Protein Gel Staining • Molecular Biology Research
Compatibility: Suitable for ethanol- and isopropanol-based nucleic acid precipitation workflows. The appropriate volume, incubation conditions and alcohol concentration should be selected according to the DNA or RNA purification protocol.
Use: For a typical nucleic acid precipitation procedure, add approximately 0.1 sample volume of 3 M sodium acetate, followed by the required volume of cold ethanol or isopropanol. Follow the validated laboratory protocol for incubation, centrifugation and washing.
Packaging: Available as ML009-100ML and ML009-500ML.
Manufacturer: HiMedia Laboratories
