Description

SMOChem™ 1X Tris-Glycine-SDS Running Buffer Powder is a convenient, premeasured electrophoresis buffer from SMOBIO Technology for separating denatured proteins by SDS-PAGE using the Tris-Glycine buffer system.

The buffer is designed for use with Q-PAGE™ TGN Precast Gels and conventional Laemmli Tris-HCl polyacrylamide gels. Its standardized formulation supports reliable protein migration and reproducible band separation across routine SDS-PAGE applications.

Each package contains five premeasured pouches. One complete pouch is dissolved in deionized water to prepare 1 litre of ready-to-use 1X Tris-Glycine-SDS running buffer, providing a total preparation volume of 5 litres per product pack.

The prepared 1X buffer contains 25 mM Tris, 192 mM glycine and 0.10% SDS. No pH adjustment is required. The powder dissolves within minutes, reducing weighing errors and simplifying routine buffer preparation.

Sodium dodecyl sulfate, or SDS, denatures proteins and provides a broadly uniform negative charge-to-mass ratio. During electrophoresis, protein migration therefore depends primarily on molecular size rather than the proteins’ intrinsic electrical charge.

Final 1X Composition: 25 mM Tris • 192 mM glycine • 0.10% SDS

Preparation: Empty the entire contents of one pouch into a suitable laboratory container. Add deionized water and dissolve the powder completely, then adjust the final volume to 1 litre with deionized water. No pH adjustment is required.

Important Preparation Note: Do not divide a powder pouch to prepare a smaller volume. Uneven distribution of the powder components may alter the final buffer composition or pH. Always dissolve one complete pouch to prepare 1 litre of 1X running buffer.

Use Recommendation: Use fresh running buffer for consistent electrophoresis performance. Reusing buffer may change its pH and ionic strength and may introduce residual protein contamination that affects separation quality.

Storage: Store the unopened powder pouches at room temperature. The manufacturer states a shelf life of 24 months under the recommended storage conditions.
