01 Description, applications & specifications
Description
EDTA Disodium Salt Dihydrate, Molecular Biology Grade is a high-purity chelating reagent for preparing buffers and solutions used in nucleic acid and protein workflows.
By binding divalent metal ions, EDTA helps inhibit metal-dependent nucleases and metalloproteases, supporting DNA and RNA stabilisation during sample preparation and storage.
Key Features: Molecular biology grade • 99.00–101.00% assay • DNase free • RNase free • Chelates divalent metal ions • Supports nucleic acid stabilisation • Suitable for buffer preparation
Applications: EDTA Solution Preparation • TE Buffer Preparation • TAE and TBE Buffer Preparation • DNA and RNA Stabilisation • Nuclease Inhibition • Metalloprotease Inhibition • Nucleic Acid Purification • Molecular Biology Research
Compatibility: Suitable for laboratory formulations requiring EDTA disodium salt dihydrate. EDTA may inhibit enzymes that require magnesium, calcium or other divalent ions; confirm compatibility with downstream reactions.
Preparation: Dissolve the required quantity in purified water and adjust the pH according to the selected formulation. EDTA dissolution improves as the pH is raised, commonly using sodium hydroxide when preparing concentrated stock solutions.
Packaging: Available in 500 g and 1 kg packs.
Manufacturer: HiMedia Laboratories
