01 Description, applications & specifications
Description
Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate (SDS), Molecular Biology Grade is a high-purity anionic detergent for protein denaturation, cell lysis and electrophoresis-buffer preparation.
SDS binds to denatured polypeptide chains and provides a broadly uniform negative charge, supporting molecular-weight-based protein separation during SDS-PAGE.
Key Features: Molecular biology grade • ≥99% assay • DNase free • RNase free • Protease free • Strong anionic detergent • Tested for electrophoresis suitability
Applications: SDS-PAGE • Protein Denaturation • Protein Sample Preparation • Cell Lysis • Membrane Disruption • Protein Extraction • Electrophoresis Buffer Preparation • Molecular Biology Research
Compatibility: Suitable for protein electrophoresis, denaturing buffers and laboratory lysis formulations. SDS may interfere with enzyme assays, chromatography and mass spectrometry unless removed or reduced to a compatible concentration.
Preparation: Dissolve the required quantity carefully in purified water while minimising dust and foam formation. Add to the selected buffer or lysis formulation at the concentration specified by the validated protocol.
Packaging: Available in 25 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg packs.
Safety: SDS powder is hazardous and may cause skin, eye and respiratory irritation. Avoid generating or inhaling dust and review the current Safety Data Sheet before handling.
Manufacturer: HiMedia Laboratories
